The final submitted work is a culmination of the combination of:
(i) Initial ideas generation/feedback (online/class),
(ii) practical sessions in class (individual and in pairs) –
continuing in weeks 11-16,
(iii) individual research and development work in own time (weeks
11 – 18)
Your assessment task:
Design, prototype, demonstrate + document/discuss (in a report): a
substantial interactive media idea; either
a) a web based interactive media product, or
b) an ‘installation’ that utilises a designed sensor interface and
programming to manipulate sound/visual data
(selected according to your interests)
The designs can relate to existing works, but progressed with your own
ideas, and show a thoughtful, innovative, creative, robust, and pragmatic
approach. Consideration of issues studied and discussed during the
module is expected and important. Likely technologies include: phidgets,
reactivision, arduino, webcams, sensors, Pd, Flash, Max/MSP, midi, and
can be developed/run on Mac or PC.
The design/prototyping work can be individual or in pairs, but the written
element is individual only.
Practical sessions (some will be self directed):
each week up to the demo’s in week 17: prototyping
feedback/evaluation/ideas sharing
Arduino kits (optional use) – availability from Week 12.
Phidgets (optional use) – availability Week 12 onwards
Reactivision (free downloads)
Pd (free download)
Max/MSP – demo copy (30 days) on own computer
Flash CS4 – on networks
Webcams: during scheduled classes/booked out from technicians
(all hardware gear to be returned/submitted)

If it was me, I’d make an interactive “choose your own adventure” type of YouTube video. Just go to YouTube to see examples. Type in “Choose your own adventure”.
